Cute Japanese/Sushi place in downtown La Verne. My wife and I were here during a campus visit and we were wowed by the food and service at this restaurant.
The sushi was fresh and we could see one of the owners making it behind the bar.
My wife and I are looking for many more visits when she is a student at La Verne next year ! -

We love this place!!!
The owners are two of the kindest people you've ever met. We found parking outside down the street which is fine because the area is so cute.
We were there on a Saturday night which we imagined would be busy but the opposite was true. Empty!
We wanted sushi and found this gem. There was no one inside. We sat at the bar. They had some nice music playing and the TV blasting. I asked if they could turn it off because the music was nice. They did.
And hey, it's Saturday night, I'm enjoying some nigori sake, my husband is a hottie, so we decided to have a little party and started dancing right there.
Miki ( the owner) moved some tables over and the four of us had a great time.
Her husband makes the sushi.
We had a wonderful time. I really appreciate the excellent service and the fact that they really wanted us to enjoy ourselves. Great place! -

Terrible service and extremely rude. I'm not even giving this place one star because of the mediocre food, (you get what you pay for and this place is pretty inexpensive) I'm giving Aoki one star because our server was extremely rude. The only cash I had was a 50 dollar bill and a 1 dollar bill and I sure as hell wasn't gonna tip 50 bucks when my entire bill was 60 dollars. No one else in my table had any cash on them so all we tipped was 1 dollar. As we were walking away on the sidewalk, our server chased us down and said "1 dollar, really ???" In a really disgusted and rude tone. I get that 1 dollar isn't much at all but no one is even obligated to tip so the fact that a server (and I think owner) would have the audacity to say that to a customer blows my mind. The gyoza tasted like it was made in a toaster oven and the sushi tasted like it was from 711. Don't eat here

It's a quiet Tuesday afternoon. I got the Oishi Roll. Cut small. It is in fact, cut small, and it's delicious! The staff were prompt and friendly. I love the greenery I'm surrounded by outside, and this is definitely a pleasant find in my day.
The salad is also delicious. Not too much dressing. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.
Thanks Aoki! -

Been coming here for over 15 years.
Great little spot down town. Very kind and helpful couple who own and run the restaurant. Fresh quality fish. Delicious spices in the hot dishes. Highly recommended by a local!
